This sweet bungalow offers three bedrooms, a full bathroom, formal dining, and a newly renovated kitchen and on-site washer & dryer.. Guests are welcome to enjoy the brand-new outdoor deck for alfresco dining or enjoying the warm Southern evenings.
This charming cottage was built in 1939 by James and Maude Sample. James was an assistant cashier for the Georgia Railroad in the days when the railroads were a huge part of the commercial fabric of Augusta. In pre-war Augusta, the many textile mills created tons of goods to be shipped and many of the homes in this neighborhood were occupied by people whose livelihood was provided by the various railroads serving the city. The Samples apparently loved the home that they built because they continued to live here until well into the sixties.
Heard Avenue in 1939 was on the outskirts of Augusta and this was a new neighborhood filled with homes built for the many rural people moving to Augusta as the Depression was easing. In those pre-air conditioning days, Heard Avenue on the hill was seen as desirable and young marrieds flocked to the area.
Pendleton King Park is a short few blocks from this cottage and we encourage you to take a moment to go to this lovely and tranquil retreat. It is a bird sanctuary and has a beautiful assortment of plants and flowers, especially in the Spring of the year.
In case an early check-in is needed, the guest will have to pay an extra fee.
In case a late check-out is needed, the guest will have to pay an extra fee.
$75 fee for each pet that might be traveling to the property with the guest (2 pets max).
